Bonding science and policy to accelerate food systems transformation

Event 25 January 2021
If we are to transform our food systems, progress is urgently needed in terms of both applied science and political action. To this end, a high-level webinar is scheduled for 4 February, in support of the United Nations Food Systems Summit, to foster dialogue between research and policy.
DR

The event will facilitate the expression of different perspectives to foster dialogue in favour of action to build healthy, sustainable food systems. By taking a pragmatic look at the latest research and policy-related advances, it will fuel the debate on both where to put combined efforts and how to strengthen science-policy linkages in the run-up to the UN Food Systems Summit and beyond.

This high-level event is placed under the high patronage of the French Ministries of Agriculture and Food, of Europe and Foreign Affairs, and of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

It is organized by MUSE - Montpellier University of Excellence and its members and partners (University of Montpellier, CIRAD, INRAE, IRD), in partnership with CGIAR, with the support of Agropolis International and of AFD. It is intended to support September's United Nations Food Summit 2021 in New York.

Virtual conversation

All participants in the webinar are invited to contribute to a virtual conversation ahead of the event. The fruits of this collective process will shape and inform the debate on 4 February. Contributions are anonymous and must be submitted by 29 January.

Signing of the action plan between the French government and CGIAR

A side event will be given over to the signing of an action plan strengthening the links between the French government and CGIAR. The event will include a contribution from Michel Eddi, President Managing Director of CIRAD, a CGIAR preferred partner.
