The agreement will facilitate collaboration between CIRAD and Enabel on the ground in Africa, where the two organizations are already working on similar issues, often with the same partners.

The two organizations also share expertise in terms of networking, experience, field experts and recognized partnership practices. These assets all centre on shared values such as a commitment to development.

For CIRAD, Enabel is both a financial and an operational partner. The two organizations will be able to pool their skills and expertise within joint projects that may or may not be funded or co-funded by the Belgian agency, to optimize the synergies between them in order to reach development goals.

The first collaboration under the agreement is scheduled for the first quarter of 2021, and will concern the issues surrounding oil palm in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The agreement was signed electronically, during a virtual meeting.
