CIRAD has a new institutional website

Institutional news 24 June 2021
More modern, clearer, more user-friendly, more intuitive but still just as informative... the new CIRAD institutional website provides easy access to content designed specifically for different audiences. After the French version in May, the English version is now out. Why not have a look around?
CIRAD has a new website

The new cirad.fr website, launched in French on 5 May and in English on 24 June, has several new features.

The main change is its look: we have chosen to highlight the quality images and illustrations that make CIRAD unique.

Easier access to content tailored to our audiences

The website was built with its users in mind. It offers the best possible browsing experience, thanks to its usability and content tailored to each target audience. "The aim is that each of our priority audiences, which include donors, public institutions, local authorities, NGOs and think tanks, businesses, journalists, students and scientific partners, will easily find content that specifically interests them", says Béatrice Louvet-Bacle, project leader for the new website and head of institutional communication output at CIRAD.

The website offers specific points of entry for each audience, plus four main sections: Our activities, our impact - CIRAD worldwide - About us - Work with us. It also includes areas for the media and the socioeconomic sector – with the solutions offered by Cirad'Innov –  and our regional offices.

A clearer picture of CIRAD's international role

Another major novelty is an interactive map showing a hundred or so projects led by CIRAD, giving a clearer picture of our international role. Users can filter the projects shown by priority research topic, value chain, etc.
News items are split between new headings, to promote CIRAD's results, impact and advocacy operations more effectively. Several filters allow our target users to access the content of most interest to them, and the news section now gives direct access to posts on CIRAD's institutional Twitter feed.

Particular emphasis on accessibility and data protection

"The new website was built around its users", says Caroline Farges, project technical lead for the new website, "to get to know them better and respond to their needs". Readers will now subscribe to our newsletters via an online form. The website was also developed in line with the latest GDPR standards and accessibility regulations. Lastly, it is fully responsive: it adapts to tablets and smartphones, to fit in with new web use habits.

We hope all our readers will find it interesting.
