The 6th edition of the Paris Peace Forum will be dedicated to “Seeking Common Ground in a World of Rivalry“, with the participation of CIRAD.

It is more urgent than ever to find common ground on the governance of global commons and global public goods in domains like climate change, outer space or critical minerals. Facilitating dialogue, creating action-oriented coalitions and defining norms or pre-norms is the Paris Peace Forum's way to deliver efficient responses to the urgent challenges of our time. The Forum will bring together representatives of States, international organizations, businesses, development banks, foundations, NGOs and other players from across the world. CIRAD CEO Elisabeth Claverie de Saint Martin will be moderating two sessions at the Paris Peace Forum.

From science to policy: how to inform decision making on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response?

South-North Dialogue to help achieve SDG 2 and 13 in Africa: An Agricultural Revolution for Sustainable Food Security

Friday 10 November 2023, 16:45 - 17:45, Room 2

The Covid-19 epidemic and the war in Ukraine have exacerbated structural trends: food insecurity is set to increase due to rising demographics and declining crop yields caused by climate change. The challenge of the century will be to produce more while decarbonizing. Faced with this situation, Africa has immense agricultural potential. It can feed its population with a model adapted to climate change. This roundtable, in line with the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact, will attempt to show that it is possible for Africa to reconcile the agendas of combating global warming and protecting biodiversity on the one hand, and agricultural development to achieve food security on the other.
