CIRAD at COP25

Event 29 November 2019
CIRAD, along with its partners, is involved in several side events at COP25 in Madrid, from 2 to 13 December 2019. This is an important step in the talks between countries prior to implementation of the Paris agreement, scheduled for 2020. The summit also marks the final year of the Koronivia joint work on agriculture, decided during COP23 in Bonn.

Nature based solutions for negative emission

A side event organized by CIRAD and INRA. With the participation of Claude Garcia, an ecologist with CIRAD, who will be talking about forest landscape restoration in Amazonia.

Sciences et territoires africains : comprendre les enjeux du changement climatique pour venir en appui à la décision

Monday 9 December – 2:40 to 4:50 pm - Institut de la francophonie pour le développement durable Pavilion 
With the participation of Julien Demenois, ecology researcher and 4 per 1000 correspondent at CIRAD, on restoration of soils and of the multifunctionality of degraded forest landscapes in Ivory Coast.

Alliance for the Conservation of Rainforests

Tuesday 10 December – 4:30 to 5:30 pm – Hall 6 Benelux Pavilion, IFEMA 
With the participation of Alain Rival, CIRAD Regional Director for Southeast Asian islands, who will be presenting the TRAILS project (Climate resilient landscapes for wildlife conservation) in Malaysia. This side event will be introduced by: Elisabeth Borne, Minister for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition (France); Teodoro Ribera, Minister of Foreign Affairs (Chile); Hugo Moran, Secretary of State for the Environment (Spain); Maria Elva Pinckert, Minister of the Environment and Water (Bolivia).

Wednesday 11 December – 8:00 am to 6:30 pm – Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food 
With the participation of Élisabeth Claverie de Saint Martin, CIRAD Director General in charge of Research and Strategy, Julien Demenois, 4 per 1000 Correspondent at CIRAD, and Vincent Blanfort, Climate Change Officer.
