Rice roadmap summary. The road to sustainable rice growing [2023-2033]

The rice value chain must respond to the constant increase in global demand and face up to the scarcity of land and water resources. In view of these challenges, CIRAD has identified four priority research areas that will guide its work on rice growing between now and 2033:

•     Make rice systems more sustainable thanks to the agroecological transition
•     Contribute to the sustainable management of rice systems by managing water
•     Improve and promote rice quality
•     Help to adapt rice growing to global changes

This document summarizes CIRAD's roadmap for the next ten years. The ambitions presented for sustainable rice production are shared for discussion with CIRAD's current and future partners: riceresearch@cirad.fr
