#Biodiversity

A lot is hanging on COP15 – the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity – due to be held by the end of 2022. Biodiversity loss is just as much of a threat to the survival of humanity as global warming. There are many who fear that this COP's ambitions will not match up to the issues at stake.

CIRAD and its partners suggest an original approach. They advocate placing biodiversity within a social space, in other words within a network of relations encompassing many spheres: economic and political, social and cultural, ecological and legal. The aim is to reconcile those different dimensions and the needs of societies, biodiversity conservation and human development.

This issue of Partnering4Impact takes stock of the approach and of CIRAD's expertise of working in partnership on these major issues.
