Basics of animal cell culture

Background

The cell culture is a set of biological techniques used to grow the cells outside their body (ex vivo) or their original environment. This tool becomes increasingly necessary to validate protocols before animal experimentation step.

Objectives

  • Acquire fundamental principles in animal cell culture (theoretical and practical )

Audience

Students, technicians, engineers, anyone wishing to learn the basics and good practices in cell culture that are needed to maintain and / or to develop a cell culture laboratory

Language

English or french

Program

The workshop "fundamental principles in animal cell culture" consists of theoretical courses and practical workshops. This training lasts two consecutive weeks at full time.

Evaluation of acquired skills in the form of MCQ at the end of the training. Deliverance of a certificate of attendance at the end of training.

Training at CIRAD in Montpellier (France) (international campus of Baillarguet) :

  • Number of participants: 1 to 4
  • Dates: between October and April (to be determined according to the demands).

Itinerant training with invitation.

  • The host organization will cover travel, accommodation and expertise of (the) trainer(s)
  • For the practical part of the workshop, the host organization must be able to provide a laboratory equipped with at least one MSC and a (CO2) incubator

Prerequisites

Ideally, knowledge of animal cell structure and laboratory work (use of micropipettes).
