France

CIRAD plays an active part in French federative research structures, in particular joint research units, alongside other research and higher education establishments such as INRA, CEMAGREF, Montpellier SupAgro, the IRD and universities .

  • CIRAD is a member of Agropolis International , which associates 17 agricultural research and teaching establishments in Montpellier and which has an international reputation in the field of Mediterranean and tropical agricultural research.
  • Along with INRA, the IRD and Montpellier SupAgro, it was also behind the setting up of the Fondation Agropolis , which supports and promotes top-level agricultural research and teaching.
  • The strong bond between INRA and CIRAD is reflected in the many scientific programmes on topics of common interest, such as forests, animal health and emerging diseases.
  • CIRAD is a founding member of Agreenium , a public scientific cooperation body associating it with INRA, Montpellier SupAgro, the Ecole nationale vétérinaire in Toulouse, the Institut supérieur des sciences agronomiques, agroalimentaires, horticoles et du paysage in Rennes and AgroParisTech.
  • In the French overseas regions almost 400 CIRAD staff members are working alongside INRA and universities to support local communities and supply chains.
