In the Asian island countries, research by CIRAD and its public- and private-sector partners centres on food security, long-term poverty alleviation, and biodiversity management, with particular studies of how island societies and ecosystems evolve in relation to each other as a result of climate change.

A few details
A permanent staff of 14 in 2009, backed up by short appraisal or research missions (more than 700 man-days in 2008). Training in the form of short- to medium-length courses in France and Indonesia, supervision of certificate courses in Montpellier. Experimental and application trials throughout the zone.
