Research platforms in partnership
-
Production and Conservation in Partnership
(PCP, Zimbabwe)
As part of this platform, founded in 2007 in partnership with two universities in Zimbabwe and the CNRS, CIRAD is working on protected areas and their fringes in southern Africa, with the aim of reconciling agricultural production and natural resource conservation for the benefit of rural communities. In 2009, CIRAD chose PCP as one of its priority platforms in Africa.

Public Policy and Governance
(PP&G, South Africa)
This platform is under construction. It is geared towards analyses of rural development or natural resource management policy. CIRAD and the University of Pretoria are spearheading a partnership that is intended to become regional, notably by associating partners from Mozambique and Zimbabwe.

Ecosystem Services in the fight against Poverty
This platform is also under construction. It will set out to study and promote the provision of ecosystem services of use to local people in the East African Highlands. One strong assumption of the scientific project is that diversity, addressed on different scales, from plant to landscape, plays a major role in overall agricultural productivity. In the next phase, this scientific draft will be debated in order to construct the partnership around a shared project.
