CIRAD can provide financial support to PhD and post-doc students, researchers from partner organizations and professionals, to enable them to satisfy their training or skill-building requirements.
Each year, CIRAD devotes a substantial budget to training PhD and post-doc students and researchers from partner organizations. The funds may be used for individual training or to organize collective training courses aimed at building skills in developing countries.
Calls for applications are issued annually. Applications for grants must be made through one of CIRAD's research units or support services.
In addition, various international, European and French donors offer financial support to enable scientists from developing countries to take certificate courses, continue their PhD or post-doc studies or benefit from a stay in a research team in order to build their skills.
The French government awards grants for studies, courses and top-level scientific experience in France, and study grants under specific programmes: Bourses Eiffel and Eiffel Doctorat.
The European Union awards grants for study, PhD and post-doc courses and top-level scientific experience.
The Agence universitaire de la francophonie (AUF) awards grants aimed at fostering international mobility between universities abroad: grants for training or refresher courses through research and scientific experience.
Numerous private foundations provide grants for various levels of study: Ford Foundation, Gates Foundation, L’Oréal Foundation, McNamara Foundation, Total Foundation, etc.
