A new website and a new logo for CIRAD

30/11/2009 - Press release

CIRAD has just launched its new website. It is easier to use than the previous one, and includes a new logo and updated institutional messages.

CIRAD keeps a close watch on global change and its consequences for developing countries. It strives to keep pace with that change, and adapt its research operations and partnerships accordingly. As a result, it is ever more determined to work with developing countries on the main global agricultural and development issues : food security, animal health, climate change, poverty alleviation, etc.

The organization's new website highlights this approach more clearly than before. Navigation and access to resources have been made much easier. Many pages include a search engine based on keywords relating to the main research topics, tropical supply chains, and the organization's six priority lines of research.

Research, teaching and training , along with innovation and expertise , the keystones of CIRAD's operations, are more visible and explained in greater detail. A restructured Publications & resources area provides access to CIRAD documentary resources (publications, interface with the national open archive platform HAL, database of scientific documents and images produced by CIRAD researchers), a list of the journals published by the organization, a directory of scientific websites and, under the Science for all heading, to summaries of conferences, videos, brochures, reports, quizzes, and of course the annual report.

The colours chosen for the site, which are both dynamic and original, with a tropical theme, echo those of the new logo (green and fuchsia), which reflect the originality of CIRAD's approach within the research sector and its researchers' commitment to sustainable, environmentally friendly agriculture. The two interlocking discs of the logo represent the interdependence of North and South, and of research and development.
