CIRAD is a partner in the Idex - Sud de France project

26/09/2011 - Article

The Idex - Sud de France project was submitted on 20 September 2011 under the French Government's Investissements d’Avenir programme. CIRAD played an active part in drafting the project, which associates almost all the research and higher education establishments in the Languedoc-Roussillon region.

In particular, CIRAD is involved by virtue of the project's strong international component, which also receives logistical and technical support from Agropolis International. It is also a project governance stakeholder, as a founder member of the future scientific cooperation foundation that will be steering the project in the event of success.

The Initiative d’excellence (Idex) call for projects, which is intended to promote scientific excellence and also structure the various sites involved, is a major priority for the scientific community in Montpellier and in the Languedoc-Roussillon region as a whole. It should result in eight to ten multidisciplinary higher education and research platforms of global importance. Each platform will have a budget of almost a billion euros.

The results are expected before the end of the year.
