The 25th CyclOpe report has been published at a time when most markets were at record levels, from cereals to non-ferrous metals, and from cotton to art. However, the political crisis in many developing countries, and particularly the "Arab Spring", a faint echo of the 1848 "Spring of Nations", is a cruel illustration of the "Commodities Curse" of the past twenty-five years.
Presentation of the report on the CyclOpe website
The CyclOpe report (product and trade cycles and trends) puts its readers at the heart of every commodity market, from A to Z, including pineapples, zirconium, textiles, soybean, cars and even art. It also includes valuable in-depth analyses, for instance of the weight and responsibility of China, the WTO Doha round talks, the development of recycling markets, etc.
CyclOpe is a reference book that also gives its readers an overview of the tensions and conflicts associated with the world economy and globalization.
It was written by an international team of more than fifty experts, including several CIRAD researchers, headed by Philippe Chalmin, a professor at the University of Paris-Dauphine. It is published in French, English and Chinese.
