The Genetic Improvement and Adaptation of Mediterranean and Tropical Plants Research Unit is on the web

16/12/2011 - Article

The Genetic Improvement and Adaptation of Mediterranean and Tropical Plants Joint Research Unit (UMR AGAP) now has its own website, after its official launch on 11 January 2011. The site presents the work of the 13 teams that make up this very large research unit. The address is umr-agap.cirad.fr.

The websites of the joint research units in which CIRAD is involved are being redesigned, in both ergonomic and graphic terms. The new Genetic Improvement and Adaptation of Mediterranean and Tropical Plants Joint Research Unit (UMR AGAP) is the first to benefit from a new-look website.

In a rapidly-changing global environment, the ability to produce plant material suited to a range of different, changing growing conditions is a top priority. UMR AGAP has a broad base of expertise with which to tackle that challenge. This very large unit is a major targeted plant biology and genetics platform. It is headed by three research and higher education establishments: CIRAD , INRA and Montpellier SupAgro .

After a general presentation of the unit, the website sets out the three main fields covered by the unit and the 13 teams it comprises. There is also information on the platforms and biological resource centres headed by UMR AGAP, its products and scientific publications , and its teaching and training operations.

The "Actualités " and "Agenda " pages contain updates on the unit and its activities.
