Tropix 6.0

20/03/2009 - Article

The characteristics of 245 tropical and temperate species are presented in a new version of the Tropix software, developed by CIRAD.

This new version of the Tropix 6.0 software, developed by the CIRAD Production and Processing of Tropical Woods Research Unit, presents the characteristics of 245 tropical and Mediterranean forest species: scientific names of the species described, origin and local names, timber and wood appearance, physical and mechanical properties, durability and preservation, wood drying performance, performance characteristics, and effective and potential uses.
It also enables multi-criteria species searches based on preselected criteria. All the information is available in both English and French, and can be printed out.
