A new volume of the Prota encyclopaedia, which lists useful plants originating from tropical Africa.
The book Timbers
is the first part of volume 7 of the Prota
encyclopaedia on plant resources from tropical Africa. Volume 7 looks at the species used as timber, and comprises two parts. The first describes 511 species whose primary use is as timber. The species, belonging to 25 botanical families, are presented through some 280 articles. Part 2 will list the trees used as timber that belong to families not covered in the first part.
Prota
is an international programme aimed at producing an encyclopaedia on more than 7000 useful plants from tropical Africa. All the books are available in English and French, and on CD-ROM. The articles are also available on line, on the
