Frequently asked questions

  • Can I apply if I’m not French?
Yes, jobs at CIRAD are open to candidates of any nationality.

  • I can’t see any appropriate vacancies, should I make an unsolicited application?
You are always free to make an unsolicited application, but you will have a better chance of success if you reply to actual job offers.

  • How can I apply?
All applications must be made on line. Applications will not be accepted unless made in this way. Before making an application, set up a "compte candidat" containing your personal details (civil status, qualifications, professional experience). To do this, click on the available post, then on "postulez en ligne", and "créer un nouveau compte candidat".
Then go back and click on the post you are interested in, and then on "postulez en ligne". Enter the access codes given by the system, and your personal details will appear. At the end of the form, add your CV and covering letter to register your application for the chosen post.

  • I have applied on line, is that enough?
We strongly recommend that you back up your on-line application by sending a detailed CV, covering letter, list of publications, etc by e-mail or mail, specifying the DRH reference number of the job in question in the subject box of the e-mail or on the envelope of your letter.

    o Courrier : Cirad, Drh/Emploi, TA 174/04, 34398 Montpellier cedex 5, France

  • I received an error message when confirming my on-line application, what should I do?
ESend your first name, surname and address by e-mail to the CIRAD recruitment team (DRH), who will let you know what the problem is.

  • I have already applied to CIRAD but want to update my CV and apply for a different job
All you have to do is click on the CV form and enter your ID and password. If you have forgotten them, send your first name, surname and address by e-mail to the CIRAD recruitment team (DRH).

  • How are candidates selected?
DRH makes an initial selection from the applications received, just after the closing date. Applications are then passed on to the programme with the vacancy, which in turns makes its selection. The final selection (five applicants at most) will then be called for a series of interviews.

  • How will I know if I’ve been selected for interview?
If you have been selected for interview, we will contact you by e-mail or phone in the weeks following the closing date for applications. If you do not hear from us, you should assume that your application for this post has been unsuccessful.

  • What will my status be?
CIRAD is an EPIC (public industrial and commercial establishment) and its employees are subject to French labour law (Code du travail). Senior staff contracts include a mobility clause.

  • How much will I earn?
The salary depends on your qualifications, previous experience and current job. It is based on an internal pay scale.
